Toolworks

The San Mateo County Event Center (SMCEC), home of the San Mateo County Fair, is proud to announce a dynamic new partnership with Toolworks, a nonprofit organization committed to connecting ability to opportunity by supporting individuals with disabilities through training, job placement, and community integration.

This collaboration, launched as Signature Business Consulting celebrates its 50th anniversary, brings Toolworks team members on-site to support the ongoing cleanliness and readiness of the facility. From weekly event transitions to large-scale productions like the annual San Mateo County Fair, Toolworks plays a key role in maintaining the standards guests have come to expect at SMCEC.

“This partnership reflects our continued commitment to inclusion, community collaboration, and making a lasting, positive impact,” said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the SMCEC. “We’re honored to work alongside Toolworks to create meaningful employment opportunities while enriching the services we provide to our clients and guests.”

Through this partnership, Toolworks team members will gain paid job training and ongoing employment, helping to build skills and independence in a supportive and professional environment. The program not only enhances the lives of participants but also contributes to the broader goal of increasing workforce diversity and accessibility.

Signature Business Consulting, a business development firm focused on expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities, helped facilitate this partnership. Having worked closely with Toolworks on previous initiatives, Signature Business Consulting recognized them as the ideal partner to support SMCEC’s operational and community goals.

“Toolworks is thrilled to welcome the San Mateo County Event Center to our growing network of community partners,” said Kristy Feck, CEO of Toolworks. “Our mission to connect ability to opportunity wouldn’t be possible without forward-thinking organizations like SMCEC who share our vision of an inclusive and equitable workforce.”

Toolworks has been serving individuals with disabilities and underserved communities for over 45 years, offering a range of services including job coaching, independent living support, and workforce training. Their impact has been profound, empowering thousands to live and work with dignity and purpose.

“The San Mateo County Event Center and the Fair staff are deeply committed to uplifting everyone in our community. This partnership represents an exciting new chapter, rooted in inclusivity, shared purpose, and the belief that opportunity should be accessible to all.” said CEO Dana Stoehr.
