Fair officials have developed various plans to adhere to current guidelines from the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economic plan. The current plan under California’s Yellow Tier allows for outdoor live events such as the county fair to host up to 35% of maximum capacity.

“The theme of the San Mateo County Fair is Where Tradition Meets Innovation, and we will certainly bring the favorite traditions of animals, pig races, BBQ, funnel cakes, carnival rides, and the Ferris Wheel back, with the innovations that provide a healthy and safe space for our community,” said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the San Mateo County Event Center. “The health and safety of our guests is our top priority,”

There will no longer be timed entry requirements for tickets purchased. Any ticket purchased grants admission at any time during fair operating hours for the date indicated on the ticket. Those buying tickets are encouraged to purchase in advance as same-day ticket sales will only be available until the fair reaches attendance capacity. Buying your tickets online will also save money, as the walkup gate admission is more expensive per ticket. Please follow @SanMateoCoFair on Twitter and Instagram for real-time updates on ticket availability throughout the fair.

The San Mateo County Fair will be the largest county fair in the State of California since the beginning of the pandemic. To ensure everyone’s health and safety, face-covering requirements will align with current California Department of Public Health policies. We will continue to monitor all changes to state and local public health guidelines and update our policies accordingly.

Testing

In partnership with Curative, the San Mateo County Fair will offer FREE covid testing every day from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ABOUT CURATIVE: Founded by Fred Turner, Isaac Turner, and Vlad Slepnev in January 2020, Curative was initially set up to develop a new sepsis test. When the pandemic escalated in March 2020, they decided to focus on creating a rapidly scalable COVID-19 testing process to help flatten the curve and save lives.

Since then, they have been partnering with communities across the US to provide testing through turn-key programs, streamlined patient experiences, and scalable infrastructure, making health services easier to access for everyone.
