Free Concerts

Gold Circle Tickets at the San Mateo County Fair

Our concert lineup for 2019 is like none other! We are so excited. It’s variety with a capital “V” when it comes to free concerts at the San Mateo County Fair.

Are you a Prince fan? Then get ready to “Partyup” with Morris Day and The Time on opening day, Saturday June 8. Morris Day was a founding member of Prince’s band, The Time. He remained with the group until 1984 when he launched his solo career. I’ve got my purple outfit ready, do you?

Who’s “Lost in Love”? We are! It’s Air Supply on Sunday, June 9. Air Supply, a rock duo with world-renowned fame, played their 5,000th show in September 2018. Now that’s evidence of the timeless sounds of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple but majestic songs. Thanks to the great peeps at The Breeze 98.1 for hosting this concert.

OMG! Literally, on Monday night, “We Will Rock You” because it’s Queen Nation, a tribute to the music of Queen. Did you see Rami Malek and his Academy Award winning performance as Freddie Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody? Wow! We cannot wait until Queen Nation brings Freddie’s music to San Mateo.

Rock will continue to rule on Tuesday night when Petty and The Heartshakers, a Tom Petty tribute band goes live. “Breakdown” has got to be one of my Petty faves. What’s yours?

We are switching genres on Wednesday night. Do you like big, um, rears? Get ready for Sir Mix-A-Lot. He’s best known for his danceable, bass-heavy hip-hop sounds, one of which is “Baby Got Back” about, well, big behinds. Our friends at Q102 are presenting this concert and they know how to have fun.

It’s Better than Ezra on Thursday night—alternative rock. Don’t you just love “Good,” their first #1 hit? I do and I’ll be ready.

On Fri-Yay it’s the Commodores! Let’s shake it down, shake it down now to “Brick House.” Often referred to as “The Legends of Motown”, the Grammy award-winners have been churning out hit after hit since Motown days.

Yes, I’ll be fangirling when pop band 98º takes the stage closing weekend. It will be a Saturday night at the fair like none other. Nick and Drew Lachey? Really? When they sing “Because of You” I’ll be dreamy-eyed. The team at Alice @97.3 are promoting this show big time.

On the final Sunday, Dia de la Feria, we’re finalizing a spicy lineup for you. Stay tuned for the announcement of the list of ‘bandas’ sometime in early May.

Of course, all these concerts are free with fair admission. Yep, free, on a space-available basis. However, if you want to guarantee a premium seat, you can opt to buy a Gold Circle ticket. Gold Circle includes fair admission, plus a reserved seat at the concert. I’m going for the Gold.
